The Second OAA Medical Outreach Print E-mail

Doctor attending to PatientAs part of its social responsibility, the OAA organized its 2nd Medical Outreach to surrounding communities. The Medical Outreach took place on 18th July 2009 at the Anumle Cluster of Schools, and was supported by a Medical team of Akora Doctors and Medical Assistants from the Korle-Bu Teaching, Ridge, No 37 Military and Achimota Hospitals.


The programme started at 10:00 am with eight doctors and three nurses. In the course of the day, other doctors and medical assistants joined the team. In all, a total of eleven doctors, eight nurses, a driver from Achimota Hospital and 9 volunteers from “The Voices’, an NGO participated in the outreach.

The doctors treated general ailments and referred serious cases to Achimota Hospital. Patients were given free medication donated by our sponsors who included East Cantonment Pharmacy, Paracelsus, M & G Pharmaceuticals, and Mepha Research. We were supported in other ways by the Rotary Club, Kingdom Books & Stationery, Zain and Unilever.

Patients Waiting to Consult DoctorsGeneral attendance was very good; about 400 patients were attended to. The OAA provided the medical team with food and drinks. The programme ended at about 4:00 pm.
